History

2020 - We use the Corona break to develop new projects. In cooperation with Etiopia-Witten e.V., a seminar on doctor-patient communication is being developed at Mekelle University. And for Albania we are designing a seminar on Surgical Skills and Hygiene.

2017 - After the end of the sponsorship by the Walter-Gastreich-Foundation, the financing of the seminars is now taken over by several sponsors. There is a slight restructuring of the project work with new approaches and ideas, especially with regard to sustainability.

2016 - After the organizational hurdles, the seminars Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine are successfully held. On the Albanian side, a new team with great motivation gets going and creates new perspectives together.

2015 - Uncertainty about continued financing and more difficult contact with OMA lead to temporary breaks in seminars in 2015.

2014 - The Jörg Hogen-Students Award motivates further commitment.

2013 - The fourth seminar is introduced with emergency medicine. The second summer project with Albanian students takes place at the University of Witten/Herdecke.

2012 - FDN is awarded with the Students Award of the German Student Union and the visit of the former Albanian ambassador Besnik Mustafaj brings new ideas.

2011 - In the first summer project at the University of Witten/Herdecke, nine Albanian students learn practical knowledge in examination courses of various disciplines over ten days and gain an insight into the German health care system.

2009 - Funding by Stiftung Mercator ends. The Walter-Gastreich-Foundation takes over.

2007 - The creation of the Albanian partner organization "Organizata Mjeket e se Ardhmes" (OMA) is to simplify organization and communication and make the project more sustainable. It will become an integral part of the work in the coming years.

2002 - Foundation of "Future Doctors Network", initially under the name "Pro Albania".
